About Susannah Sunderland
Susannah Sunderland is a practicing Acupuncturist. She is a graduate of Northwest Institute of Oriental Medicine (NIAOM) in Seattle, WA where she earned her Masters of Acupuncture Degree. She continued her herbal studies in San Diego, CA and graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) where she earned her Master’s of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM). The extensive four year post-graduate program at PCOM included training in both Western and Chinese medicine with a focus on Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, and therapeutic massage.
Susannah completed an internship in China at Cheng Du University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, It is one the top teaching hospitals in China. Additionally, Susannah holds a national certification in massage therapy (NCBTMB). A lifelong learner, Susannah is currently enrolled in a one-year certification program for “Acupuncture Orthopedics”. She is licensed in the state of California and is certified as a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Currently Ms Sunderland is practicing Acupuncture in Encinitas, CA. Susannah serves the health and healing process of individuals and families within the community who strive for a quality, balanced and pain-free life in body, mind and spirit. Her focus is on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of health challenges through holistic therapies. In her general practice she treats a broad spectrum of health concerns, and focuses on, and enjoys treating pain conditions (musculoskeletal, neurological, headaches), stress related illnesses, depression, anxiety and digestive related issues. She is currently enrolled in a clinical nutrition program at the Natural Healing Institute. She feels that nutrition is a critical underlying element and the basis for true health and well being.
Born in Boston, MA, Susannah grew up in the northeast, primarily Maine and Massachusetts. After college, she relocated to Seattle, WA. She has traveled extensively all over the world and lived in several countries. In her recent past life she lived in South America in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador where she was an underwater tour guide for hammerhead shark dives.
Susannah loves the outdoors. Some of her favorite hobbies are camping, kayaking, sailing, skiing, scuba diving and underwater photography. She loves to travel and explore locally and internationally. She loves anything to do with the ocean. Lately, she can be found at the beach with her new dog Jasmine. Hoping Jasmine will develop the same appreciation of the ocean so they can kayak together. Susannah also loves to cook and has been exploring how to cook gourmet and deliciously nutritious at the same time. In the future she hopes to share her love and food and nutrition with all of you.
